Four injured in suicide bomb attack on Shabqadar mosque

A suspect police were chasing ran into the mosque and detonated explosives

SHABQADAR: At least four people were injured in an apparent suicide bomb explosion in a mosque in Syed Wali colony, Shabqadar on Friday evening.

According to initial details, Isha prayers had just ended when the explosion occurred at around 9pm.

A police official said the blast injured Fazal Raheem, Ihsan shah, Subhanullah, and Saifullah, who were praying in the mosque at the time.

They were taken to the Shabqadar Hospital for treatment where an official said their lives were out of danger.

Multiple high ranking police officials, speaking on the condition of anonymity, said that they had been chasing a suspect, Muhammad Naeem, who ran into the mosque where he detonated explosives. It had been reported earlier that a grenade had been hurled at the mosque.

The police had not registered an FIR till the filling of this report.
