PM arrives in Turkmenistan for two-day official visit

A few MoUs and agreements are expected to be signed during his visit

ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif on Tuesday arrived in Ashgabat, Turkmenistan for an official two-day visit.

The premier and his cabinet members including ministers for commerce, petroleum and water and power; together with senior officials were welcomed in Ashgabat by the Turkmenistan foreign minister.

During the visit, a few MoUs and agreements are expected to be signed.

The Government of Turkmenistan underlined the significance of the visit for the promotion of bilateral relations between the two brotherly countries.

A  tête-à-tête will be held between PM Nawaz and President Gurbanguly of Turkmenistan which would be followed by delegation-level talks.

The main focus of the meeting would be to review in whole, matters pertaining to bilateral relations including the TAPI Gas pipeline project and energy security, economy, trade and commerce, education, defence, science and technology, culture and regional as well as global issues of mutual concern.

A banquet is also set to be held in the premier's honour.

On Thursday, the prime minister is said to visit Bishkek where he will hold a meeting with the Kyrgyz President Almazbek Atambaev.

During the delegation-level talks the two sides will discuss issues of mutual cooperation in various fields. Further, a few agreements and MoUs are also likely to be signed during the visit.

z | 8 years ago | Reply I think PM should stay home and shouldn't be worried about foreign diplomacy. The country will grow itself, like in Musharraf's era. Or Visiting abroad should be left with Lord Niazi as he got free air travel arrangement via Tareen Airways.
