His message suggested that his departure was over a contract dispute.

Broadcasting company Fox had renewed the series for two more seasons all the way up to 2017.
The rest of the Simpsons voice cast earlier signed two-year extensions, logging on for seasons 27 and 28, with Shearer being the only one who had not done so.
Dan Castellaneta (the voice of Homer Simpson), Julie Kavner (Marge Simpson), Nancy Cartwright (Bart Simpson), Yeardley Smith (Lisa Simpson), and Hank Azaria (Apu) are all still set to return for the next two seasons. Production on season 27 has already begun without Shearer.
Fans were visibly upset with the news, judging by the reactions on Twitter.
