PESHAWAR: The provincial government has imposed no restriction on the movement of gur (a traditional unrefined sugar), said Chief Minister Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (K-P) Ameer Haider Khan Hoti here on Wednesday.

He said that he had raised the matter with the Governor K-P for directing the political administration to issue permits for transportation of the commodity.

The chief minister said that the impression of restrictions on the movement of gur to Fata was created in the wake of the constitution of a committee for guaranteeing the availability of Trading Corporation of Pakistan (TCP) sugar to the consumers. The committee, he said has recommended restricting the movement of the commodity for making it available as alternative of sugar.

The ban, the chief minister said, was for a period of only one month and the federal government had also recommended it.

The chief minister said that he had issued directives for the issuance of permits for the transportation of gur.
