LAHORE:

Justice Farrukh Irfan Khan of Lahore High Court (LHC) on Monday sought a reply from IGP Mushtaq Ahmad Sukhera on a petition seeking payments for the containers that the petitioner had provided for blocking roads during Azadi and Inqilab Marches by the Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf and the Pakistan Awami Tehreek last year.

Petitioner Rana Shahid Jamil, through his counsel, told the court that he had sent a bill for Rs3.1 million to the Police Department for providing them 30 containers. He said that police had not paid him the amount so far. He requested the court to direct the IGP to immediately pay the amount.

An additional advocate general argued that the petitioner should have approached the IGP before moving the court on the matter.

However, the court turned down the argument. The judge directed the IGP to reply to the petition next week.
