Rawalpindi police have removed 400 loudspeakers from 200 mosques in the ongoing crackdown against misuse of loudspeakers.
The Punjab Sound System (Regulation) Ordinance 2015 allows only one speaker for Azan and Friday Arabic sermon only. The police have removed extra loudspeakers from the mosques.
Rawalpindi City Police Officer (CPO) Israr Ahmed Khan Abbasi said action is being taken against the violators and in line with the law.
The police have also registered over 80 cases of misuse of the loudspeaker under the law and have been directed to remove extra loudspeakers.
