PESHAWAR: An application filed with Peshawar High Court has accused Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa Assembly lawmakers of nepotism and requested the court to unseat them.

The application and the principal petition were filed by Ijaz Ahmad, a resident of Nowshera. Ahmad accused Minister for Excise and Taxation Mian Jamsheduddin and PK-15 MPA Idrees Khan for ‘recommending’ candidates for appointment in the education department.

A petition against the illegal appointments is already with the court. The alleged recommendation letters printed on their personal letterheads have also been attached to the application. Petitioner Ahmad said both lawmakers, hailing from Nowshera district, coerced the Nowshera district education officer for the appointments.

Jamsheduddin allegedly suggested six candidates while Khan recommended five, out of which three were rubber-stamped by the district appointment committee for Class-IV on September 10, 2014.

“The letters are evidence of malpractice by public representatives. The apex court has many a time censured these acts and termed them as misconduct,” the application further read.

The principal petition notes illegal appointments were made for over seven vacant Class-IV posts. “Had the vacancies been advertised, the petitioner would have applied for employment,” the petition claims.

The PHC has been requested to pursue the case, declare the accused party to the proceedings and nullify their appointments. “They should be unseated in light of Supreme Court’s previous rulings.

The PHC must order to probe the applicant's grievances and must deseat the lawmakers, if found gilty as claimed. Merit must orevail tgrought Pakistan and there should not be any kind of favour or involvement by the parlaimentarians, buerocracy or officers of the concerned departments at any level.
