Search operation: Militants rounded up in S Waziristan

Security forces have detained several suspected militants and destroyed at least 15 of their hideouts during a search operation mounted over the weekend for Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) fighters in the Lahda area of South Waziristan, a security official told The Express Tribune. The operation was launched in the Mehsud tribe-dominated areas of Lakrai Ser, Manza Ser, Dawa Toi and Makin, the official added. Security personnel destroyed more than 15 terrorist bases and recovered a cache of weapons in the operation in which helicopter gunships were also used. The detained suspects were shifted to an unidentified location for interrogation.
