Goal-fest in the football league

NBP defeats Young Blood FC 4-1 while HBL beat PMC Athletico 4-1 in Pakistan Premier League.

KARACHI: National Bank of Pakistan (NBP) defeated Young Blood FC 4-1 while Habib Bank Limited (HBL) beat PMC Athletico 4-1 in the Pakistan Premier League yesterday.

Muhammad Ashfaq scored a hat-trick against Young Blood FC, scoring his goals in the ninth, 18th and 45th minutes while Mehmood Khan assured victory for his side in the final minute of the first half as NBP led 4-0 at the interval. Young Blood could only reply through Khawar Khalid’s goal in the 62nd minute. NBP holds on to the 12th place in the league with 24 points while Young Blood FC sits a spot behind them with 18 points after 27 matches.

Meanwhile, HBL won their third match of the league against Athletico as Muhammad Aurangzeb scored twice while Zakir Lashari netted in the 25th minute and Sameer Ahmed sealed the victory for HBL in the 62nd minute. Athletico’s only goal was scored by Tanveer Ahmed in the 38th minute.

With this win, HBL climbed to the 15th spot with 15 points after 22 matches, while Athletico are last in the league.
