Witnesses said armed motorcyclists attacked Bukhari as he was getting in his car to go to work. He was shot twice in the head, they added. Bukhari, who belonged to the Shia sect, was currently handling a missing persons case on behalf of the MQM.

His body was shifted to Jinnah Hospital and police have begun investigations into the incident.

Lamenting Hasnain's murder, Muttahida Qaumi Movement leader Haider Abbas Rizvi urged Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif to take action against the killers.
"Ali Hasnain’s death is irreparable, he was a key member of Legal Aid Committee," he added.
