MQM lawyer shot dead in Karachi

KARACHI: Sindh High Court Advocate Ali Hasnain Bukhari and member of the Muttahida Qaumi Movement's (MQM) Legal Aid Committee was shot dead near his home in Karachi's Korangi area on Wednesday.

Witnesses said armed motorcyclists attacked Bukhari as he was getting in his car to go to work. He was shot twice in the head, they added. Bukhari, who belonged to the Shia sect, was currently handling a missing persons case on behalf of the MQM.

His body was shifted to Jinnah Hospital and police have begun investigations into the incident.

Target killing has been on the rise in the city and the recent implementation of the National Action Plan is aimed at eradicating all forms of terrorism from the country.

MQM urges PM to take action against killers

Lamenting Hasnain's murder, Muttahida Qaumi Movement leader Haider Abbas Rizvi urged Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif to take action against the killers.

"Ali Hasnain’s death is irreparable, he was a key member of Legal Aid Committee," he added.

fus | 9 years ago | Reply @Raisani - I am sure you understand pretty well what local means, it mean any "ethinicty" with "ties" to Karach. Police LEA should be local, infact if possible it should be local to the township level. Only local person would care about its neighbourhood or city, it should be applicable to whole Pakistan. But again you are probably not a local also and that is why you are making an issue out of something that is the final solution to all the law and order issues of this city and country. You need to think beyond MQM, MQM is no Karachi. As you said "No discrimination on the basis of language. We all are just Pakistanis, that’s it." that is wht we need local no import. Karachi and Hyderabad and Isl to some extent which has true diversity and that is why it is important to ave local police instead of imports who have prejudice and discriminate, since they dont understand diversity or meaning or merit.

So your argument carries no weight in reality. No discrimination on the basis of language. We all are just Pakistanis, that's it.

And as far as Karachi is concerned it is part of Sindh Pakistan. No Pakistani needs a visa or work permit or any N.O.C. from any na-maloom afraad or groups. Any Pakistani can work freely anywhere in Pakistan. And there is no such thing as rural Sindh, it's all Sindh and Pakistan. Stop making differences. Pakistan Zinadabad.
