Two goals by Sibtain Raza helped NBP successfully defend their Quaid-e-Azam Gold Cup Hockey Tournament title, defeating PIA 3-1 in the final match of the event’s fifth edition at the Customs Preventive Service Club and Sports Complex Karachi on Friday.

The Bankers took control of the game right from the start, with Arslan Qadir opening NBP’s account in the 25th minute and Raza completing the winning team’s scoring in the 37th and 41st minutes.

PIA’s lone goal came courtesy of captain Kashif Ali, who successfully converted a penalty corner in the 54th minute.

“We availed all chances presented to us and were able to thwart PIA’s attack,” Tousiq told The Express Tribune. “This tournament was valuable in terms of gaining experience; the final especially was a good opportunity to pit our wits against a strong team.”
