Crime Check: ‘Robber’ killed in shootout

Police chased them and rounded them near the graveyard.

FAISALABAD: CIA police on Thursday claimed to have killed a suspected robber in a shootout in Madina Town. His two accomplices managed to flee. City Police Officer (CPO) Sohail Habib Tajik told newsmen that a CIA team headed by Inspector Zafar Iqbal was returning from Khurarianwala on Wednesday night when they spotted three suspects on two motorbikes at Canal Road near Hyundai Show Room. He said the team signalled them to stop for a search but men shot at them and fled towards the graveyard. He said police chased them and rounded them near the graveyard.  “The police asked them to surrender but the men again shot at them” he said.  He said when police shot back, one of them died on the spot. He said their accomplices managed to escape. “The police recovered a gun and a mobile phone from the deceased who is yet to be identified.”He said a team had also formed to find and arrest his accomplices.
