Vidya, who is gearing up for the release of Hamari Adhuri Kahani, has also been approached to play the role of late actress Suchitra Sen.
The actor successfully portrayed Silk Smithain Dirty Picture in 2011, for which she received critical acclaim.
While a formal statement regarding the two roles is yet to be made, Bollywoodlife.com has also reported that producers are lining up with some challenging offers for Vidya.

If a Punjabi Priyanka can play a North east Mary Kom and a British Ben Kingsley can play Mahatma Gandhi then why not?
In any case where is the question of lobbying involved? A producer will hire whoever he thinks can do justice to the role and pull an audience in due to their popularity.

Does Priyanka hail from North east or resemble Mary Kom? Is Farhan Akhtar a Sikh that he played Milkha Singh in Bhaag Milkha Bhaag? Was Ben Kingley who played Gandhi in the movie Gandhi - an Indian?
On biopics, there is no claim that the actor portraying the role resemble the person who the picture is about.
@Asok It will flop. Only half of india know Benazir Bhutto. Her story itself will be new to audience. Add in new Iranian actress. It won't cross more than 50 crore. Mary Kom movie needed North eastern indian (who resemble Chinese). But she was replaced last min by Priyanka for box office collection.
Tabu should be the best choice in this respects. Hight, posture and box office requirements match..
@what the what No such thing. Unknown face won't ring cash at box office. Or they could have taken any unknown North Indians too. Or indian Sindhi hindus. But who will go and watch if there's no fan following? They want a strong woman character played by a star. Karisma has played strong role in zubeeida she would fit role. But she's dying star. Don't think they invest in her to cash in $$$.

Get an Iranian actress. Benazir is Iranian from her mother's side, whom she resembles the most.
Kareena , Raveena or tammanah Bhatia would suit better. But Vidya has always played strong woman related roles and breaken molds to fit roles. She was critisized and made fun of for kahani,dirty picture before release for being fat and no comparison to other actress in bollywood. She silenced all those people with her work and talent. Let's not judge a book by its cover.
So a South Indian woman is going to play the role of a Pakistani woman who is ethnically half Sindhi and half Iranian!
They could just a Pakistani actress to play her role like Zeba Bakhtiar but of course our lobby isn't as strong and Hollywood has it's own ulterior motives of boxing us into the same category.
Vidya Balan is a brilliant actor.......but not for this role. She lacks the height and the facial features necessary to play BB.
She doesn't look like Benazir AT ALL
