Karo kari: Man burns wife to death

SUKKUR: A young woman was burned to death by her husband on the pretext of karo kari near the Sadhuja bypass within the limits of Baiji police station on Saturday evening. Baiji police raided the residence of Ali Ahmed Bhayo and found the charred body of a woman, which was shifted to the Pannu Aqil taluka hospital for post-mortem. They arrested Bhayo, who initially denied killing his wife, Hameeda. However, according to Baiji SHO Maqsood Rasool Mahar, he later admitted to the murder, saying that she had had a relationship with someone in the area. Mahar said that the doctors who conducted the post-mortem had confirmed that the woman was tortured before being set on fire. The police have registered a FIR against Bhayo on behalf of the state. Sources claimed that Bhayo had moved there after his house in Jacobabad was washed away in the super-flood of 2010.
