Councillor’s death: Five policemen booked for murder

QUETTA: At least five policemen of Ormara town of Gwadar were arrested on Saturday on charges of murdering a woman councillor and injuring two others during a showdown with protestors. Councillor Gul Nisa Sameer of Balochistan National Party (BNP) was shot dead and two others wounded after police fired gunshots in the air to disperse an angry mob that had gathered outside the house of a police official. According to Additional SHO Mohammed Jawad, police have arrested ASI Sher Jan, Constable Zahoor Ahmed and three havaldars Mohammed Afzal, Nasir Ahmed and Imran Aziz. District Police Officer (DPO) Gwadar and DSP had reached Ormara police station after the incident and launched an inquiry into the incident. The DPO, after investigation, directed the police station to register cases against the police officials. The accused were booked under section 302, 324 and 376. The arrested police officials have been shifted to Pasni for further interrogation.
