KARACHI: Sindh Governor Dr Ishratul Ebad Khan has summoned a session of the Sindh Assembly on Monday, January 19.
According to sources, a legislation to reinforce the National Action Plan (NAP), evolved in the wake of the Peshawar tragedy, will be on the agenda.
“A bill is likely to be passed to register tenants and house owners’ details at the nearest police stations. Besides, all particulars, regarding the sale and purchase of properties will also be provided to the police stations of the area,” said the official, adding that other bills concerning the health and education sectors will also be moved in the upcoming session.
The official said that Muttahida Qaumi Movement’s (MQM) adjournment motion regarding the Timber Market fire that destroyed 200 shops and 50 warehouses will also be on the agenda. “We have also received a few resolutions to condemn the Peshawar incident.
The lawmakers of Pakistan Peoples Party, MQM and Pakistan Muslim League - Functional have separately moved resolutions which will likely be taken up in the upcoming session,” said an official in the Sindh Assembly.
Meanwhile, the Sindh Assembly’s secretary, GM Umar Farooq, said that the agenda for the session has yet to be finalised. He added that the session will run for a few days to enable the lawmakers to adopt several important bills.
