LAHORE: Labour and Human Resource Minister Raja Ashfaq Sarwar on Tuesday presented a shield to Athar Ali Yad to pay him tribute for stopping a runaway truck on the motorway. He was honoured at a function that the government had arranged at a restaurant in Gulberg. Sarwar said the government highly valued the services of national heroes such as Yad. He said Yad had stopped the unmanned truck while putting his own life in danger. The minister said he would request the provincial and federal governments to award Yad the highest civil award. Yad told the media that he had risked his life to stop the 22-wheeler truck for the safety of other motorists. He thanked the government for presenting him the shield. His wife Shaista Ali khan and their children Arsh Yaad Ali and Asar Yaad Ali were also present on the occasion.
