Bahria Town to the rescue: Timber market blaze victims offered Rs1m

In the wake of the colossal damage to Karachi’s timber market following Sunday’s massive blaze, the chairman of Bahria Town, Malik Riaz Hussain, has offered financial assistance for the victims of the tragedy.


The Bahria Town is to give one million rupees to each victim of the Timber Market blaze, said a statement issued by the real estate conglomerate.

“The aid will be handed over to the victims’ families within a few days,” the statement said.



Malik Riaz Hussain has always been at the forefront in welfare work, whether it is natural calamities or accidents. The property tycoon has offered mega financial packages for the victims of flood, earthquake and Thar drought.

The Bahria Foundation has started the relief work in Tharparkar by sending teams of doctors and paramedics and ambulances. The foundation has established mobile hospitals in various tehsil of the district where more than 500 children have died due to hunger this year. A part from this it has been offering free meals at Bahria Dastarkhawan for the last few months at various places in the desert district of Sindh.
