Surprise check: Negligence will not be tolerated, says CTO

LAHORE: During a surprise visit to check traffic flow at traffic junctions in the city on Monday, Chief Traffic Officer Tayyab Hafeez Cheema issued show-cause notices to 15 traffic police personnel for poor performance.  In a statement issued later, the traffic police said four patrolling officers, a lifter in-charge, five traffic wardens and two traffic police drivers had been issued show-cause notices.  CTO Cheema visited the junctions to check on the police drive against cars with tinted glasses. Cheema said strict departmental action would be taken against traffic police officials found guilty of negligence during duty hours.  “I want to see you working hard to ensure smooth traffic flow and serving citizens on the roads. Any negligence in this regard will not be tolerated,” he said.
