Expanding capital: CDA to start road work in Sector I-12

CDA chairman says development of new sectors a priority.

ISLAMABAD: The Capital Development Authority (CDA) will soon initiate work on roads in Sector I-12, said a press release on Sunday.

The project would cost Rs358 million. The tender notice for construction of major roads in the sector has already been floated and contract for construction work would be awarded after opening of tender on January 15, 2015.

CDA Chairman Maroof Afzal said that CDA was aware of the shortage of residential units in Islamabad and thus development of stalled sector was a priority for him. He said that sufficient funds have been allocated in the current fiscal year for the development of stalled sectors. He said that plan for construction of major roads in Sector I-12 has been finalised and Rs358 million have been allocated.

He said once the roads are constructed the civic agency would undertake other development work and hand over the plots to owners.

The CDA boss said that the authority had also initiated development work in Park Enclave. The project would be completed at a cost of Rs1240 million.

He said that pre-qualification process for Sector I-15 was also in final stages.

The chairman said that apart from completing the stalled sectors, the authority would launch new sectors to overcome the housing shortage.
