Bad call: Bomb hoax convict gets 26 years

MULTAN: An anti-terrorism court on Thursday sentenced to 26 years imprisonment a man it convicted of making two calls reporting bombs and thereby causing panic in the city on Eidul Fitr. According to prosecution, Rana Yousuf called the police helpline on July 28 and said a bomb had been planted in Hussain Agahi market.  Police vacated the bazaars and carried out a search for the bomb but they did not find any. The next day Yousuf called the helpline again and said there was a bomb in Shah Shams Park. Prosecution said law enforcement agencies vacated the park and searched for the bomb, but again did not find any. Police traced the phone number used to make the call to Yousaf and arrested him in a raid. The judge awarded Yousaf 26 years imprisonment and fined him Rs100,000.
