The attacks took place in the same area where Pakistan Army has been mounting an air-and-ground operation against Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan insurgents.
On Friday, intelligence official said the latest air strikes targeted Uzbek and Punjabi Taliban hideouts.
Pakistan has stepped up operations against the militants in response to December 16 school massacre in which more than 130 children were killed, but details of its efforts are sketchy as independent journalists are not allowed in North Waziristan.
US drone strikes are deeply unpopular in the country and the government is officially against them, even though many senior TTP commanders have been killed in such attacks in past years. US officials almost never publicly comment on its drone policy in Pakistan.

The point is not that who killed and why. The question which no one is asking is that, how these animals had survived after house to house search and intense bombing.
war on terror spread in Pakistan's tribal area due to drone strikes.....our Pak army is well equipped enough to fight these terrorists
@abreez: Dear abreez, Good work. One of the few who has got it right. Most of the other mind conditioned people still do not get it it after 13 years of the US lurching around the Islamic world and Afghanistan in particular, droning, bombing, killing and upsetting people, which inevitably results in more militancy and payback. By any measurement, militancy is at a much higher level now than it was 13 years ago, and very much so in Pakistan. I wonder when reality will dawn upon these other poor wretches?
@abreez - I thought the 'sovereignty / ghairat' crowd had seen the light, after the Peshawar carnage... But looking at your comment, it appears they're still alive & kicking (though mellowed).
As a nation, we must be aware that the Taliban are a regional threat as well as internal. Therefore, any help from the USA should be well received, whether drone attacks which are very effective, or the billions in aid.. It is a war against intolerance, sectarianism, bigotry, hatred and death - beyond all limits of human decency and empathy that threatens existentialism and world peace.
@abreez: You appear to be rambling and making no sense in your comments. Perhaps some sleep would be good for you.
its funny when Pakistani Armed forces pound these guys its good ! but when a drone does it its bad ? why the double standards ?
As long as American will remain in Afghanistan, neither world nor Pakistani nation will see peace in this region. How can world’s biggest terrorist fight war against small terrorist when it has no moral authority?
change has come yaro, no one is there to speak about and condemn now,
