Mirza accuses courts of providing relief to terrorists

Sindh Home Minister Zulfiqar Mirza warns that important buildings in Karachi are still at risk.

Sindh Home Minister Zulfiqar Mirza has once again accused courts of providing relief to arrested terrorists by setting them free.

Talking to the media after a security meeting at the Sindh Assembly, Mirza claimed investigators have been unable to collect evidence in the Crime Investigations Depart (CID) building blast case.

He warned that important buildings in Karachi like hospitals, courts, provincial assembly and other sensitive buildings were still at risk.

Speaker of the Sindh Assembly, Nisar Khoro said the Assembly had not received any threats but anticipatory security measures were needed nonetheless.

Khoro said the security of the Sindh Assembly and that of its members is being improved.

Shahzeb Akhtar Khan Tanoli | 14 years ago | Reply Dear.....first of all the guy is part of the government, lower courts where a criminal matter goes first off is within the direct control of the provincial government unlike the High Court. Hence if the guy has a problem with how the courts are functioning...HE himself is part of the gov., he is poised best to pursue a reform proposal. Additionally failure to do so is a failure on his own part and a failure of his party/gov. Secondly, being a lawyer and having experienced the courts myself, i am of the opinion that the fault lies in the prosecution not the courts. The courts are bound by law, if they have insufficient evidence put before them by the prosecution they are bound to let the accused go. It is the responsibility of the police to accumulate sufficient evidence to enable a court to reach a guilty verdict. Sadly, our police is more interested in keeping crime scenes clean of blood stains and evidence of their failure hence used to "cleaning up" a site soon after a crime, absolutely ignoring the evidential value of such crime scenes. In short, no matter how you read the problem....it is any one but the Courts that you can blame for such apathy.
