LAHORE: Polio campaign has been suspended in six towns of Lahore due to security concerns, Express News reported Wednesday morning.

However, the campaign will continue in three towns of the city.

The decision comes a day after a three-day polio campaign was halted in Faisalabad by the district administration after a teacher volunteering in the polio campaign was murdered.

A staff officer to the Lahore DCO told The Express Tribune on December 9 that they had shared their polio campaign plan with the police. “Police have been directed to increase patrolling in the city,” he added.

The total number of polio cases in Pakistan this year has reached 276.
