The IntelCenter index examines the volume of terrorist and rebel alerts, messaging traffic, videos, photos, incidents, and the number of individuals killed and injured over the past 30 days and runs it through an algorithm.
Iraq topped the list with a CTI score of 576 followed by Nigeria, Somalia, Afghanistan, Yemen, Syria and Libya. Pakistan fared better than all of these countries scoring 162 on the CTI.
According to the index, terrorism poses a greater risk to Pakistan than it does to Egypt and Kenya, countries that scored 95 and 86 in the index respectively.
There are a total of 45 countries with a score greater than zero, while the average score is 74.
The company does not track political groups, criminal organisations or military forces, and only focuses on terrorist and rebel groups.

Again, almost all the indian are posting negative comments, as if, they have nothing else going on in their own miserable lives. If they were happy in India and busy and satisfied with their own lives, they would not even care or have time to come regularly on Pakistani website to post their negative remarks. This only proves one thing, that indians are living more miserable lives then Pakistanis and feel joy in finding faults in their neighbor and celebrating like there is nothing better.
Pakistan Khappay! Wait for IK. He'll bring Pakistan to number 1.
@Humza: Peace of advice.... Shut Up!
@Shan: "Next year pakistan will compete to the top most position, the way things going on in this country."
Amen and Inshallah!
@What's common?: hmmm, they are all Muslim countries, and that they have been a target of foreign operations since the late 70's (soviet invasion of Afghanistan). Before all of that, they were pretty peaceful and if anybody did a similar ranking it should be there to prove it.
Pakistan should work to get to the top of this list. You guys are capable and would get there with a little effort and perseverance.
Dear Editor (Tribune.com.pk)
Please do not allow comments that denigrate Islam (or any other religion) to be seen in public. Such public display of blind hatred has never been a norm in international media, and surely, Tribune.com.pk wouldn't want to be the pioneer.
Accommodation of such comments that blame Islam for all the evils of these countries will spread even more ignorance, frustration, and hatred among the readers, esp among those who feel their lives have been affected by Islam in any way.
@MAK: Your comment of UAE not being in the table is irrelevant. The fact that all the 9 worst countries are muslim is in itself embarrassing. We should be asking ourselves why are we falling behind whereas rest of the world is moving ahead. At this rate the muslim world will be lucky to see the next century. Problem with us is that we never accept our mistakes but always blame others like Jews, Hindus, Christians, Ahmadis and Buddists. That is where our backwardness lies - in the 7th century!
What do you expect when we have corrupt and criminal leaders like Nawaz Sharif as PM of Pakistan. He even targets his opponents through private force of Gull Butts
Strangely no one has openly prayed Pakistan for improving the infrastructure and economy. Pakistan recorded five per cent growth in the first quarter of the current fiscal year, the central bank said Friday, beating its target and almost doubling the figure for the same period last year. The State Bank of Pakistan data for the early months of the financial year began in July, 2013 said GDP grew by 5.0 per cent, compared with only 2.9 per cent in the first quarter of the last fiscal year. Pakistan is far away from becoming the 8th most dangerous country.
No mention of Ukraine, Mexico, South Africa, Sudan, Burma, Mali, Congo because these countries are being over run by criminals or in the midst of wars.
The article states "The company does not track political groups, criminal organisations or military forces, and only focuses on terrorist and rebel groups." The headline is at fault, it's misleading.
@Sunil: The UAE also follows the same religion of peace. I am sure at least one of your immediate relatives or close friends is earning a decent living here, peacefully :-)
we need to change...we need to rethink...we need to relook what we gain in the past years....we need to wipe out terrorism.....we need to educate our children.....we need to elect a wise government.....we need to......
@What's common?: Ummm I think they follow the religion of "peace" but am not sure? Will they publish this so I can get an answer?
Report Based on Terrorist & Rebel Activity Over Past 30 Days as of 9 Dec. 2014
Just see, we Indians can't even congratulate you on your good ranking also.
The very presence of Pakistan at the 8th position makes the whole ranking criteria and assessment procedures dubious and questionable.
So says a private firm based in Washington DC. I wonder if this is happening in Afghanistan, Somalia, Syria, Libya. Biased report is biased

@Baibars: Malaysia and Indonesia should be there too. Ok, but Saudi Arabia should have been there for definite! Poor LEA performance simply. Recently, there was a spike of sectarian and religious militancy in KSA. You will soon hear the beheadings of the 125 culprits they caught. There will be hue and cry from all of the world, but then there will be peace in KSA. Period!
C'mon, guys - we're better than that, surely.
Let's aim for numero uno next year.
@What's common?: They're all Muslim!
@What's common?: Is it the Islamic country ?
@csmann: This is the real intent of Imran Khan and his party of sore losers. Create as much mayhem and instability as possible to create problems in the country. He can't wait to win elections in 2018 so this is the plan Z shotcut.
Looking through the list, you get the feeling that there is something seriously wrong among these nations that share a common ideology.
Next year pakistan will compete to the top most position, the way things going on in this country.
@What's common?: What's common between those 8 nations? I can guess. How about... 1). They are all UN members. 2). They are all Nations of Peace. 3). They all subscribe to teachings of peace? If it is none of the above, I have no idea.
What is common in these 8 countries? Hmmmm....
How wonderful!to be ranked above these puny and insignificant countries.Am sure will be competing with them vehemently next year..
