“Pakistan Army have given exemplary sacrifices in this operation,” the premier said, referring to the operation launched on June 15 this year after peace talks with the Taliban failed.
“Peace restored in this operation will also result in peace in the region,” he said, while chairing a meeting in Islamabad, a day after the army gave a go-ahead to civilian authorities to start the phased return of over one million internally displaced persons (IDPs) to North Waziristan Agency.
"We will reconstruct a better area for the IDPs when they return," the premier added.
Prime Minister Nawaz further said that the IDPs have also given great sacrifices for the stability of Pakistan, while assuring that the State would look after their needs.
As per details from the PM House, a comprehensive strategy for rehabilitation of IDPs and reconstruction in areas where the operation was conducted was presented and reviewed.
The director general military operation gave a detailed presentation on the clearance of the areas.
The meeting was attended by army chief General Raheel Sharif, Finance Minister Ishaq Dar, Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa Governor Mehtab Abbasi, Federal Minister SAFRON Abdul Qadir Baloch, the PM’s senior aide Sartaj Aziz and Special Assistant to the Prime Minister on Foreign Affairs Tariq Fatemi.

Fatal Blow? Maybe but I suspect the PM couldn't answer the basic questions outlined below - if so he's not qualified to judge the success of this operation. . How many troops deployed? How many civilian casualties? How many bad guys killed? How many bad guys captured? Which leaders are targeted and how many of them have been eliminated? How many bad guys crossed the border into Afghanistan? How many bad guys moved into other sections of Pakistan? How much is it costing? . I am big supporter of this operation - but the prior S Waziristan operation demonstrated that declaring victory doesn't mean much. Pakistan reporters should be imbedded with the troops - would provide a source of credible information about an important operation.
I hope and pray someone someday will inflict a fatal blow to this government of Mian Nawaz Shareef and his Noora league.

Only time will tell. Sweeping the area is one thing, consolidating the gains is quite another. For that you need forces to stay for at least a few years. Can't see that happening.

Was it the same PM who was advocating peace talks with the terrorists? Congrtatulations to the present COAS who took the bull by the horns and left the terrorists in no doubt as to who was calling the shots.
Fighting militancy militarily is not a permanent solution, Hit their ideology, End poverty, Provide education and jobs then militancy will be reduced automatically.
