Improving healthcare: ‘No decision to hand over hospitals to private sector’

Sindh health minister Jam Mehtab Dahar has put to rest rumours about an imminent handover of a few government hospitals to the private sector.


"We have not made a decision yet," said Dahar, while talking to media in Jamshoro on Saturday. "We are still debating whether or not to give charge of the civil and taluka hospitals to private agencies in the form of public-private partnership."

The health department has received around three dozen expressions of interest from various non-governmental organisations. About a dozen of them have been shortlisted. "The government wants to provide better medical facilities, which are at par with the private sector by instituting these health reforms," said the minister. "
