KARACHI: The Sindh High Court (SHC) gave on Wednesday three weeks to the home secretary, the inspector general, prisons, and the superintendent of Sukkur Central Jail to file their replies on the transfer of under-trial prisoner, Muhammad Ajmal, alias Ajmal Pahari, a Muttahida Qaumi Movement activist. Headed by Justice Muhammad Ali M Sheikh, the bench was hearing a petition filed by Ajmal’s wife against his transfer to Sukkur jail. In her plea, Fouzia Hussain said her husband was shifted out of the city without assigning any reason, which was a violation of the jail rules. She apprehended that Ajmal’s life may be in danger and pleaded the court order the prison authorities to bring him back to Karachi. On Wednesday, an additional advocate general requested for time to submit comments of the prison authorities.
