Gas leak : Five of a family injured

ISLAMABAD: Five people were injured on Thursday in a blast following a gas leak inside a house in a posh housing society in the suburbs of Islamabad. The police said the gas accumulated in the house and the victims were injured when someone lit a match. The investigation officer of the case, SI Ishaq, said the family had turned on the geyser a few days ago and were in the process of shifting to the house which belonged to a relative settled abroad. As they came back with their belongings, they did not realise that the geyser was left on and the gas had accumulated in their absence, Ishaq said. Someone struck a match and everything was engulfed in fire, he added, saying the house is also on the verge of collapse. The victims — identified as Amir, Sajid Pervez, Amir Akbar, Kamran and Moeed — were rushed to a nearby hospital following the blast.
