High court judges to be appointed in December

Appointment of judges in Islamabad High Court expected in next meeting of Judicial Commission.

ISLAMABAD: The appointment of judges in the Islamabad High Court, including its chief justice, and confirmation of additional judges in high courts is expected in the next meeting of the Judicial Commission, which is likely to be convened in the first week of December, high-level government sources said.

Sources told The Express Tribune on condition of anonymity, that they believed that the judicial commission would first appoint judges and subsequently the chief justice of the Islamabad High Court would confirm additional judges of high courts who are performing their functions on the apex court orders and latter the commission would take up at its agenda to appoint judges in the Supreme Court,” sources further said.

Law Minister Babar Awan, after attending the first meeting of the Judicial Commission, had announced that Islamabad High Court would start functioning on December 13.
