Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Raheel Sharif visited the Fort Irwin National Training Centre  as his US tour continues, Express News reported on Saturday.

“The COAS visited US Military National Training Centre at Fort Irvin, California today. [He] reviewed and appreciated the US training system,” Inter-Services Public Relations Director General Asim Bajwa wrote on micro-blogging website Twitter.

According to Express News, Gen Raheel was briefed on the US army’s training methods and advanced warfare equipment. Later, Gen Raheel visited Stanford where he presented Pakistan’s perspective on terrorism.

“Pakistanis have stood together, braved the menace of terrorism, and have paid a huge price. The world needs to understand the sacrifice of Pakistanis,” he said.

“Pakistan is one of the greatest, bravest, most resilient nation,” the DG ISPR quoted General Raheel as saying.

Earlier this week, General Raheel had held in-depth discussions on the ongoing security issues between Pakistan and the US, and both sides had reaffirmed a mutual desire to strengthen their relationship.

Fort Irwin National Training Centre is the main training centre of the US troops.
