Peace Sports Festival concludes

Two per cent of the DCO sports fund has been utilised by the youth in healthy sports activities

PESHAWAR: The Peace Sports Festival concluded at Boys Degree College District Tank on Saturday.      Smiles could be seen on the faces of youth who took part in different games with the aim to have peace in their area.

The youth exhibited great talent in various events like football and volleyball matches organised by the District Sports Officer in collaboration with the Pakistan Army and District Football and Volleyball Associations.

Commanding Officer, Lt. Col. Muzamil, was the chief guest at the presentation ceremony. DCO Tank Amir Latif, Assistant Coordinator Officer, Bilal Ahmad Mir, Assistant Political Agent South Waziristan Agency, Jamal Nazir, elders of the area, spectators and players were also present.

In the volleyball final the Haroon Club defeated the Farhat Club, in the Tank district.

Farhat Club won the first two sets by 20-25, 23-25 but Haroon club came back strong and won the trophy. The score of the three remaining sets was 25-19, 25-20 and 15-9. Teams from the entire Tank district took part in the event.

In the football final, Toofan club defeated Sabir club on a penalty shoot-out. The two teams tied at 2-2 in the 70 minute match when both teams were awarded five penalty kicks. After the penalty kicks, Toofan club scored all penalty kicks while the Sabir club scored only four.

A total of eight teams took part in the event.      Speaking on this occasion, Anwar Kamal thanked the Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa Sports Minister, Syed Aqil Shah, and Director Sports Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa in organising the event.

He said two per cent of the DCO sports fund has been utilised in order to involve the youth of Tank in healthy sports activities.
