ISLAMABAD: The Supreme Court on Tuesday dismissed an application seeking the disqualification of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif filed 17 years ago, Express News reported on Tuesday.

The application was filed by the senators of Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) in 1997, and was dismissed today due to the absence of prosecution at the court hearing.

Chief Justice of Pakistan Nasirul Mulk declared the application ineffective.

Recently, a Supreme Court bench had also rejected the government’s plea for dismissal of an application seeking disqualification of the PM and referred the case, including three similar petitions, to the country’s chief justice.

Who controls the prosecution? The government, and who is in power now?

The reason for the dismissal is indeed funny and shows the grounds on which our courts make decisions else no decisions or life long pending.
