Stampede: Afridi’s charity match ends in chaos

QUETTA: There was a stampede after the charity cricket match organised by Shahid Afridi Foundation at Nawab Akbar Bugti Cricket Stadium Quetta on Monday as hundreds of fans tried to have a glimpse of their hero. The charity cricket match was held between Shahid Afridi Eleven and Gul Mohammed Eleven at Ayub Stadium. Afridi led his side and won the match. There were hundreds of fans who paid entry fee and wanted to get a much closer glimpse of Shahid Afridi.  However, there was stampede as people jumped on the ground and tried to reach closer to Shahid Afridi. Security forces and police baton charged the audience and cleared the area. The audience also broke several chairs to express their anger as they were told Pashtu singer Naghma will not perform. The audience was told that Naghma will perform after the match.
