KARACHI: Over 1,000 women in developing countries die every day from complications in pregnancy or child birth, said the National Forum for Environment and Health (NFEH) in a statement issued on Monday. Nearly one-thirds of female deaths occur due to cardiovascular diseases and strokes, it added. “In Pakistan, women are the worst victims as they are deprived of proper diagnosis,” the statement read, adding that more than 30,000 young women die every year in Pakistan which gives a maternal mortality rate of 340 for every 100,000 pregnancies. To address these issues, NFEH is organised its ‘Third Public Seminar on Women Health’ by inviting doctors, surgeons, nutritionists and fitness specialists to highlight the emerging health problems pertaining to female health in Pakistan.
