Army mobilises units to help drought hit Tharis

Four companies of Army have been moved from Karachi to drought hit areas of Chahro, Dali and Mithi

Army troops have been mobilised to the draught hit areas of Tharparkar for providing relief efforts to the local population.

According to a statement issued by the Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR), four companies of Army have been moved from Karachi to drought hit areas of Chahro, Dali and Mithi.

Four ration distribution points have also been established at Khinser, Chahro, Diplo and Dhunai, where 60 tonnes of rations have been stocked so far. Four medical relief camps have also been established at Khinser, Chahro, Diplo and Dhunai. Two helicopters have been deployed in the area for immediate evacuation and ration distribution purposes.

So far 900 drought affected families have been provided with food items and clean drinking water since the operation started this morning, claimed ISPR.

Chief of Army Staff General Raheel Sharif has specially directed local formation to employ all required recourses to bring relief to the affected families.
