ISLAMABAD: Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan on Tuesday asked the United States to halt drone attacks in Pakistan once and for all.

In his meeting with US Special Representative for Pakistan and Afghanistan Daniel Feldman and US Ambassador to Pakistan Richard Olson in the federal capital on Tuesday, Nisar said the six-month break in drone attacks improved bilateral relationship between the two countries.

“We should concentrate on the positives and differences should be addressed,” said the interior minister. “It’s very important that the US understands Pakistan s’ point of view.”

Feldman on the occasion said the US recognised and appreciated the sacrifices of Pakistan during war on terror.

“The US supports democratic institutions in Pakistan,” he said. “People to people contacts between the two countries will be promoted.”

Earlier, Feldman also met with Adviser for National Security and Foreign Affairs Sartaj Aziz at the foreign ministry.

The American envoy will travel to Beijing from October 30-31. He will join a senior US delegation to participate in the 'Heart of Asia' conference.

Feldman will meet with civilian and military officials as well as representatives from civil society during his visit.
