Adviser to the Prime Minister on Foreign Affairs and National Security Sartaj Aziz blamed on Saturday India for wanting to resolve the Kashmir dispute in its own way, which he said Pakistan would not allow.
“India wants to resolve the Kashmir dispute in its own way and Pakistan will not allow this Indian attempt to succeed,” he said while speaking to reporters in Islamabad.
The adviser added that Pakistan is responding to Indian firing along the Line of Control (LoC) and working boundary in a befitting manner, adding that the Pakistan's desire for peace should not be mistaken as its weakness.
The adviser on foreign affairs said Pakistan has been highlighting human rights violations by the Indian forces in Indian Kashmir where India has deployed 700,000 troops to suppress Kashmiris.
Referring to India’s Home Minister Rajnath Singh’s statement disapproving of Pakistan’s recent move of approaching the UN to ‘internationalise the Kashmir issue’ and seeking the world body’s intervention, saying all issues could be resolved through bilateral talks, Aziz said, “UN resolutions on Kashmir cannot be ended in this way.”
“We are making efforts at an international level to make the UN Military Observers Mission more active," he said while talking about cross-border firing by India.
“The government will send emissaries and delegations to different countries to inform them about the Indian aggression on Line of Control and human rights violations in occupied Kashmir by the Indian forces,” he added.
Kashmir to observe Black Day on Monday
Kashmiris on both sides of the Line of Control and the world over will observe Black Day on October 27 to convey to the world that India has occupied Jammu and Kashmir against their will, according to Radio Pakistan.
The day will be marked with a complete shut down in Indian Kashmir and rallies in world capitals as it was October 27, 1947 that Indian troops invaded Jammu and Kashmir and occupied it.
A call for the shut down has been given by the All Parties Hurriyet Conference Chairman Mirwaiz Umar Farooq.
Farooq criticised India for diluting the Kashmir dispute and delaying its resolution by raking up electoral and administrative issues.
Addressing a gathering at Charar-e-Sharief in Badgam he said, "Kashmir is a political issue concerning aspirations of the people of Jammu and Kashmir and unfulfilled promises on the right to self-determination by Indian leadership. Ironically, India is using all means to dilute the Kashmir dispute by linking it with electoral and administrative issues," Kashmir Media Service (KMS) reported.
The APHC chairman said that delaying tactics by New Delhi vis-a-vis resolution of Kashmir would compound the longstanding dispute. "If India thinks that its military approach can suppress the sentiments and aspirations of Kashmiris, it is mistaken as Kashmiris have rendered unparalleled sacrifices for securing their right to self-determination."
He added that hostilities between India and Pakistan would only end with the resolution of the Kashmir conflict.
Mirwaiz also extended complete support for the planned Million March in London, on 26 October, by the Kashmiris living in Britain and across Europe.
He said that on this day, the Hurriyet leadership on both sides of the Line of Control would submit a memorandum to the European Union and the British Parliament demanding their intervention in resolution of the dispute.
"British government has moral responsibility to resolve the Kashmir dispute as it was instrumental in creation of this problem in 1947," he remarked.

Such irresponsible remarks by Mr Aziz . He was responsible for the the Foreign Accounts seizure in the previous Nawaz Government and now his shenanigans will result in another Indo -Pak War ...The guy needs to retire and go fishing some where ..

@AB: Yeah, n their ancestors decided it on February 15, 1954 when the members of the Constituent Assembly of J&K(who were elected by the people in 1951) who were present cast a unanimous vote ratifying the state's accession to India. This is a binding vote, unlike any of the UNSC resolutions on Kashmir which are passed under Chapter VI of the UN Charter.
Nawaz Sharif should make make an offer to Imran Khan that if he resolves the Kashmir problem the Pak PM will resign. IK will not miss this offer and start his dharna at LoC immediately enabling NS to complete his full term peacefully.
The politicians are not going to do anything they just go to UK and have fun and come back. We better forget about Kashmir and lets hold what we have and make our country a better place to live...

Let me get this right. Is he saying that an issue that is between the people of Kashmir and Republic of India, can't be resolved in a mutually agreeable way between them? What is Pakistan's role in a matter that concerns People of Kashmir & India?

If Pakistan wants to continue to be eaten from inside by its focus on Kashmir - and there is nothing India can do. We can only hope people of Pakistan will get wiser to their other problems.
Kashmir belongs to Kashmiris and they should have right of determination - not India and not Pakistan.

Chatper VI resolutions, under which the Kashmir resolutions fall, are not enforceable. Only Chapter-VII is enforceable according to UN laws.

India in its letter 01.01.1948 referred the situation about J&K to UN under Article 35 (Chapter VI) of UNSC Charter. Pakistan's first ever reply to it is by its letter dated 15.01.1948.
Pakistan thereafter has tried ample number of times in last 67 years to make that situation be converted in a DISPUTE under Article 33 of UNSC Charter, but failed in its endeavor.
Will anybody in Pakistan (including Mr. Sartaz Aziz) have guts to publish this letter of GOP dated 15.01.1947 for its citizenry to make them understand Pakistan's stance and facts about J&K?

Iran also fired mortar shells in to Pakistan and now you will say that they doing it on the instigation of India. Come on be fare solve your internal problems because a peacefull Pakistan is in the best intrest of India. We have our own problems and we have not extra money to spent on such adventures.
@Amanullah Khan: How does one fool the fools? People are dying on LoC and the military General is issuing threats from outside the country, while the former military heavy weight is suggesting that the military should incite Kashmiri civiians against the Indian military. Does appeasement bring peace for the people?

@Danish Aleem: I agree with your sentiment but wanted to provide some facts as well. The UN resolution on Kashmir is part of section VI which is voluntary which is probably why no judgment has been passed on Pakistan which failed to comply with the first condition of that resolution i.e. withdraw its army from Kashmir.

Why are you wasting your time for 67 years. You could have done lot more for Pakistan had you been not obsessed with Kashmir which belongs to India anyway. You already have 40% of Kashmir so be happy that India will let you keep that.

If Nehru promised a plebiscite, he was also the one who withdrew that offer later when Pakistan joined Western military alliances in a bid to intimidate India. Those who might say that membership of those alliances had nothing to do with Kashmir question, would do well to remember that Ayub used all the military materiel supplied under those alliances to mount Operation Gibralter in 1965, another huge fiasco. Pakistan cannot have it both ways. If it holds Nehru responsible for his promise, then it should take his withdrawal equally seriously. Barring another full-scale war ( not an anemic Kargil sneak occupation of bunkers vacated by Indian army), there is one option left for Pakistan - the UN. First they wanted to divert Pakistan people's attention away from Imran Khan and Qadri. So they started attacks on LoC. Now that the attention diverted away from these rallies, they want to reward senators and MNA's who supported the Govt by giving them foreign trips. Good work Nawaz in fooling Pakistanis.

The Kashmiri itself is not defined in UN resolution. All the immigrants are considered as part of Kashmir. UN resolution was not binding, it was just a guideline to resolve the issue. UN cannot do anything till the Pak forces are in Kashmir. UN doesn't have power to dictate Nuclear powers apart from putting economic sanctions. Facts: Bilateral talks will never resolve the Kashmir issue. Best would be for Pakistan to resolve all the non depending pending issues other than Kashmir first.
@Danish Aleem: Your thoughts are sensible. I think Pakistan and India would do well to if they concentrate on internal problems - illiteracy, poverty etc. rather than fight over Kashmir. Even if whole J & K becomes part of Pakistan sometime, it will solve none of the practical problems of Pakistan...rather it will only be exacerbated, IMHO!

I don't have much hope. Kashmir is not going to get resolved even if we go to the UN. What if India ignores the judgement of the UN. Let's agree to disagree and move to issues like trade agreements which are mutually beneficial both to Pakistan and India. Mr Sartaj Aziz a person as old and experienced as you should be wise enough to know that politics is the art of the possible. Lets accept the cease fire and ensure no hostilities breakout and concentrate on the soluble problems in Indo-Pak relations of which there are many.
