A draw will be as good as a win: Waqar Younis

Pakistan coach believes morning session will be crucial for the outcome of the match.

KARACHI: Pakistan cricket coach Waqar Younis on Monday said that drawing the first test match against South Africa would be equivalent to winning it.

"It is too much to ask for a win but if we can play well in the morning session we can try and win. At the moment the match is very much tilted towards South Africa," said Younis.

The coach said that the current team was a young one and he was pleased with the performance, and that Pakistan can still make a game out of it.

“Cricket is a funny game. It might be too much to ask for a win, but it is a game known for its uncertainty. If we can bat without losing any wicket in first session then anything can happen" he said.

Pakistan finished the fourth day at 109-2 with Azhar Ali on 37 not out and Younis Khan unbeaten on 11, still needing to bat out 90 overs on Tuesday for a draw or score a challenging 342 on a deteriorating Dubai Stadium pitch.
