Man-of-the-match Zeeshan Malik’s century and an unbeaten 60 by Umair Masood yesterday guided Rawalpindi Rams to clinch the Inter Region U19 One Day tournament, thrashing Karachi Zebras by 84 runs at the Country Club Ground, Lahore.
Batting first, Rams posted a strong total of 283-6, with Malik scoring 109 and Umair Masood compiling 60 off 38 balls. Alam Khursheed and Muhammad Shahrukh took two wickets each, giving away 64 and 37 runs respectively.
Chasing 283, Zebras were restricted to 199 all out as Mir Waiz, Aaqib Shah, Naqi Raza and Tauseeq Shah bagged two wickets each giving away 21, 23, 35 and 47 runs respectively. Top scorer Danish Aziz’s 60 off 85 balls with six boundaries and Fehddis Bukhari’s 33 off 32 balls with two fours failed to save Zebras from a big defeat.
The winners received a cash prize of Rs2 million and the runners-up were rewarded Rs1million.
