Waste workers to get 10 days’ salary as bonus

Faisalabad Waste Management Company says teams had worked round-the-clock during Eid holidays

Faisalabad Waste Management Company (FWMC) Managing Director Amjad Ali Awan on Thursday said waste workers would be given additional salary for 10 days for their work during Eid holidays.


Addressing a press conference, Awan said FWMC teams had worked round-the-clock during Eid holidays.

Awan said a comprehensive plan had been prepared for cleanliness in the cityduring Eid days.

He said 400 handcarts, 200 waste bins and 2,000 uniforms were also distributed in 113 union councils.

He said more than 50,000 bio-degradable bags were distributed among citizens for waste management.

He said 36 FWMC stalls had been set up at various points in the city where citizens were able to get bio-degradable bags and information material free of cost. Awan said a complaint cell had also been set up to promptly address problems faced by citizens.

He said 1,367 complaints were received; 360 from Madina Town, 385 from Iqbal Town, 350 from Jinnah Town and 272 from Lyallpur Town.

He said as many as 3,032 complaints were also received at the FWMC stalls.

Awan said the entire FWMC staff was on duty from 6am to 6pm during Eid days.

He said 1,950 metric tonnes waste was collected and disposed of by 3,500 field staff and a fleet of 350 vehicles.

He said 70 waste workers and 10 supervisors had been deputed at animal markets. He said they had lifted 50 metric tons waste from the markets daily.

He said 18 temporary dumping sites had been identified for waste collected during Eid holidays.
