PESHAWAR:

The Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (K-P) government discussed current and future projects of development with its local and international development partners at a meeting of senior government officials in Islamabad on Wednesday.

“From the day it took charge, the provincial government has been working on reforms to ensure transparency, accountability, merit and good governance,” said K-P Additional Chief Secretary Khalid Pervez in his opening speech.

These will help achieve the ultimate goals of better service delivery and socio-economic development, he added.

The day-long consultative workshop was held by the Planning and Development department. Representatives of all Sectoral Coordination Committees (SCCs) under the Strategic Development Partnership Framework (SDPF) — developed by the provincial government and donor agencies — were in attendance.

The meeting aimed to give final recommendations and identify key strategic achievements and challenges for the effective and result-oriented implementation of the SDPF.

Pervez said the provincial government held the recommendations and ideas of the sectoral committees in high regard, adding they would be incorporated in the annual budget.

The Sectoral Coordination Committees have been tasked with creating economic growth, jobs and enhanced fiscal space for development. They were also told to ensure the rule of law, improve the education and health sectors and guarantee gender equality, transparency and efficient use of the country’s systems.

The workshop was attended by administrative secretaries, other senior officials of the K-P government and representatives of development partners including the World Bank and European Union.
