Model Town tragedy: LHC orders release of Gullu Butt
The court said that the detention of Butt was illegal.
Butt was caught smashing cars during the clashes between Pakistan Awami Tehreek (PAT) workers and the police outside the Minhajul Quran International Secretariat on June 17.
He smashed windscreens and windows of private vehicles with his club, while police officials looked on and the vandalism continued unabated.
On September 19, an anti-terrorism court had indicted Butt for attacking police officials and vandalism in the Model Town violence.
Butt's lawyer has said that cases registered against Butt were baseless and his client was innocent.
Butt is alleged to be a Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) activist and a local hoodlum.
Some police officials were seen commending him for ‘his performance’ in a video footage. At least 14 people were killed in the police-activists clash on the day. Police registered an FIR against 21 people including Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif on August 28 in terms of a complaint by Minhajul Quran.

I would say, it follows the same logic, as of previous years. Black Coated lawyers jumped on private cars turning them into smithereens. This act was called campaign for the Restoration of Pakistani Justice System.
As far as I remember, not a single lawyer was punished, for the destruction of property, by the then restored Justice System. If the "Civil Society" can get away with it, why should poor Gullu be singled out for punishment? Is it because he is a member of the "uncivilised" society i.e. the masses?
Better still, cannon fodder, or a puppet whose strings were in some one else's hands.
Well there is no doubt that this is bailable offence, but the question is that if enough evidence is available then how much time a court should take to punish a culprit? Should this case take years and years to decide if Gulu but was a culprit. In an Islamic society and with some system of justice in place, it would take only a day or so to decide and punish an individual. This is corrupt and rotten system of justice which takes years and years to make the Chief Justice and other Justices to realise and see the proof that some crime has taken place. they are deaf and dumb ppl who only see wen enough money is stuffed in their mouth to get justice. police said they would not rest until they catch the real culprit, car owners can finally sleep with some relief, knowing the police is chasing down all leads to figure out how cars were destroyed.

Another judicial precedent..... The rest of the world should refer this in deciding cases for their Gulu Butts... We should proud of our courts and judicial system.
For God sake can we do away with courts all togather.These courts are harming country more than any benifit. I don't see any reason for thier existence.

Gullu Butt is now qualified to become the next Prime minister of Pakistan. Sometimes I too think why not loot the nation, goto jail, do corruption of 100 Million and in reward I will be free to constast for Prime Minister. THe more you break the law, the more important you become for the Nation.
When it comes to Gullu Butts our courts are very "sharif"
No discrimination. PM Nawaz has approved purchase of 2400cc Mercedes-Bend for Salman Aslam Butt, AG for rendering meritorious services towards PM Nawaz so from that point of view Gullu Butt deserves more expensive than Mercedes simply because Gullu in obedience of the instructions of Shahbaz Sharif has even been behind the bars which did not happen alike with Salman Aslam Butt. A new word in the English Dictionary. Gullu - means to destroy private property. So to do Gullu is to act in aid of PMLNs thugs dressed in Punjab Police uniforms.
Now that is what I call justice. It makes me puke.
@Zain: now i am 100 percent sure of the mentality of Pakistanis, you mean judge let him free bcz of no evidence, can i ask who provide evidence and proofs, and who will be held responsible for not providing proofs and bad investigation, of course govt is responsible. but again i am belong to that particular party, so gulu is innocent.
@Hatim: court did not free him on charges of vandalism. That is left for the trial, in which it is his right to plead not-guilty even in the face of overhwhelming evidence. This is the court deciding that the government has no right to keep an accused under extended detention after submission of bail. Vandalism and damage to public property are both bailable offences. And he has little flight risk (media coverage will ensure) and no immediate risk to public. Hence, bail is undeniable right. It has connection to the merits of the actual case, which is in trial in an ATC.
He is innocent but those 14 persons murdered in cold blood were guilty! Long live Pakistani justice thriving under this fantastic democracy which needs to be protected with the lives of the citizens LOL

illegal detention ? proof of his crime negligence of Lahore police and their involvement in his hooliganism is evident in the picture/image with the story itself.
i guess what people did to him while he was taken away from the court was the only true justice.

One fails to understand , under which LOGIC the LHC has ordered his release?
Was he not found guilty? Was there any loophole in police handling ? The news story fails to identify the reason for his release.
A case against this judge should be send to SUPREME JUDICIAL COUNCIL
