HYDERABAD: The Pakistan Workers Confederation, Sindh chapter, demanded the federal and provincial governments to ensure the implementation of laws pertaining to the welfare of the labourers. A meeting of the confederation held on Wednesday drew the governments’ attention towards non-payment of minimum wage to the workers in industries, commercial areas and other sectors, in addition to pressing issues as inadequate pension, lack of health and workplace safety facilities, labour inspection and social security among others. They called for increasing the pension to Rs15,000 from Rs3,500 that is paid by EOBI to its registered labourers. The leaders said that the central meeting of the confederation will take place in Lahore on October 17.
