According to owner of IMGC Entertainment, Amjad Rasheed, “No Pakistani film has ever made Rs1 crore on a non-holiday weekday, and this is the first time this has ever happened.”
Waar which had similar earnings for its first initial days was released on the Eidul Azha weekend of 2013.
The film which marks the Bollywood debut of Pakistani television star, Fawad Khan was released on 46 screens across Pakistan. The movie had already created a lot of buzz before its release due to Humsafar heartthrob’s star power in the country.
In an previous report by The Express Tribune, Khoobsurat had comprehensively beaten the Yash Raj Films produced Daawat-e-Ishq in advanced bookings in cinemas in Pakistan. Cinema owners in the country have reported that the comedy film jointly produced by Disney India and Anil Kapoor Films Company has had such high demand that they had to increase the number of shows per day from the initially decided three shows per day to the current seven to eight shows a day.
Several exhibitors have also started screening the film in the newly introduced time slot of 1am which ends between 3 to 4am.
Despite the tremendous start in Pakistan both the films have gotten off to an average start at the Indian box office with Aditya Roy Kapoor and Parineeti Chopra starrer, Daawat-e-Ishq performing slightly better.
With no major releases lined up in the next few days and with no stiff competition to counter, Khoobsurat is expected to continue performing well in the coming weeks.

@Gp65 - There are more than ONE serial that we are watching in India and many household have Fawad parties where group gather to swoon every time his image appears and we all agree there are no bad angles to this gorgeous man! Unlike Ali Zafar he does NOT need a prop to display his acting talents and Ali Zafar has made at least 3 movies and no one even remembers them! Also he has NOT acted in your Pakistani films yet, is it he is afraid to be challenged? Fawad has payed his dues in Pakistani films & we here they were successful, we have bootleg copies of "Humsaafar" & his acting talents proves Pakistan should be proud of this young man as young and old are enchanted by him
@Tarinha Kumar: A serial by Fawad Khan is indeed popular in India. But his debut Bollywood movie got a very lukewarm response. Of course future movies may indeed be succesful but at this ime there is no basis to claim that
1) he has arrived in India
2) he has bypassed Ali Zafar.
I watched the movie and liked the movie and his acting in this movie. But he needs to do a wide range of roles before he can be called a great actor.
@ff: So Fawad worked in a crap Bollywood movie... How desperate pakistani can get to make money ?
@Timorlane: I am struck by the level of ignorance, heightened emotions and lack of basic research in your post, something which is not entirely your fault as this affliction is common to most Pakistanis.
While still early days, Khoobsurat has received lukewarm response in India and is likely a flop. Still during the same 3-day period where it has made PKR 3 million in Pakistan, it has made almost 10 times that amount in India. Moreover Indian producers sell the movies to Pakistani distributors for a pittance, so I am sure Disney wouldn't gain much even if it is a big hit in Pakistan.
Fawad Khan has arrived, this eye candy from Pakistan the looks, has hearts fluttering in India! Move over Ali Zafar he has bypassed you I think we Indian are looking forward to this talented hunk to mesmerize us in many films & TV dramas. He is taking India by storm may be because Pakistanis are too critical all the time.
even flop songs make more money in india.
@Timorlane: Several Indian movies including those with Pakistani stars have indeed been banned in Pakistan. Secondly these movies are sold to distributors at throw away price by Indian producers so it is the Pakistani distributors and not Indian producers who make millions on movies that are shown in Pakistan. The main revenue source for Indian movies which gives 80% of revenues is Indian market. Of the foreign markets 95% revenue comes from USA, UAE, UK, Australia, New Zealand.
Hated the movie, loved Fawad ! You guys have serious talent, wish we get to see more of it. :)
Terrible movie .. :(
Day before I was reading comments on this movies in Indian news websites and as usual many of them puked venom against Pakistan writing that "Why we (indians) allow Pakistanis in our movies when indian movies are banned in Pakistan". Imagine the level of their jihalat. Indian movies make millions every month and Indian dramas are continuously telecast on supposedly Pakistani channels yet this is their propaganda against Pakistan.
the only good thing in this movie is FAWAD KHAN , else is crap
