Downward Trend; Subsidy given on poultry products

According to survey, in Islamabad Aabpara market, chicken is available within the range of Rs130-140 per kilogramme

ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Poultry Association (PPA) has given subsidy on poultry chicken to provide the commodity at lower prices to the public, blaming market forces for increasing the price on their own. PPA Chairman Dr Hassan Sarosh said poultry chickens whole sale price in twins cities is Rs125 per kilogramme, while the wholesale rate of the commodity is Rs115 per kilogramme. According to the survey, in Islamabad Aabpara market, chicken is available within the range of Rs130-140 per kilogramme, while in Rawalpindi Sadiqabad market, chicken available at Rs140. PPA Secretary General Dr Bashir Mahmood said the subsidy has been provided due to the prevailing situation in the capital. “The poultry industry has suffered a lot due to over-production and farmers were facing a huge loss,” said Mahmood.
