SUKKUR/ HYDERABAD:

Responding to the calls of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaaf (PTI) and Pakistan Awami Tehreek (PAT), shutter-down strikes and protest rallies were held across Sindh on Sunday.

Following police action against PTI and PAT marchers in Islamabad on Saturday night, shutter-down strikes were observed in various towns and cities. Protest rallies were also staged by activists from parties such as PTI, PAT, Majlis Wahdat-e-Muslimeen (MWM) and Sunni Tehreek (ST). Meanwhile, Muttahida Qaumi Movement workers hoisted black flags on their offices and wore black armbands to express their solidarity with the marchers.

In Sukkur, groups of young men on motorcycles took to the streets soon after the police action started in the federal capital on Saturday night. The protestors went around the city firing aerial shots and forcing shopkeepers to close business. On Sunday morning, scores of PTI, PAT and ST workers did the same. The protesters shouted slogans against the Pakistan Muslim League - Nawaz government and alleged that it had unleashed a reign of terror against the peaceful marchers.

Local leaders held demonstrations and burnt tyres in Hyder Chowk, Fuleli Latifabad and other areas of Hyderabad district. However, the parties were unable to attract large crowds as the protests were attended by numbers ranging from a few dozen to around a hundred persons.
