Comedy with a message: Hundreds attend Global Village performance

Drama highlights problems created by globalisation.

FAISALABAD: A comedy play, Global Village, was staged at the Faisalabad Arts Council (FAC) on Sunday.

A large number of people, including MPA Dr Najma Afzal, MPA Begum Surayya Naseem, Prof Dr Riaz Majeed, Muazzam bin Zahoor, attended the performance.

FAC Resident Director Tariq Javaid said that the play was a commentary on the current challenges facing the people of the world.

“The Faisalabad Arts Council  is playing an important role in highlighting social evils through comedy plays,” he said.

He praised the performance of the actors.

“There is a lot of talent in our country and the young actors depicted the emotions of the common man and woman,” he said.

Talking to The Express Tribune after the play, Moeen Akhtar, a citizen, said that the play shed light on the problems created by globalisation.

“We live in a global community.

If all countries cooperate with each other, they can easily eliminate threats such as terrorism.

However, some countries patronise miscreants and provide them training,” he said. “The supporters of globalisation and its beneficiaries only present one side of the picture. However, this play helps us see this phenomenon in the right perspective,” he said.

He said that the government should promote dramas that highlight problems facing the country and our society.
