The top court judge, Justice Anwar Zaheer Jamali, while referring to the court’s verdict in PTI chief Imran Khan's contempt case on Thursday, stated that they have already told politicians to be careful in their selection of words against opponents.
Jamali objected to language used by PAT and PTI leaders against parliamentarians.
Meanwhile, the court sought a written reply from Imran's counsel over the Lahore High Court Bar Multan bench petition, that the protesters be legally banned from conducting any sort of marches which violate the fundamental rights of citizens.
Despite the issuance of notice to the PAT chief Tahirul Qadri, no one appeared before the bench to represent him on Thursday.
Clearance of protestors
The five-judge bench of the apex court, headed by Chief Justice Nasirul Mulk, rejected the government’s plea to pass an order about the clearance of protestors from Constitutional Avenue.
Attorney General for Pakistan Salman Aslam Butt requested the court to pass a written order about the clearance of Constitutional Avenue, however, the chief justice said that they cannot pass such an order.
“It is the government's [job] to handle the situation. You have the administrative authority, and you may proceed in accordance with the law,” Mulk responded.
The CJ reiterated his stance to remain distant from political issues, saying that the court has no concern with them.
During the hearing, Mulk observed that the judges, litigants and staff are facing difficulties due to the protests.
The court also said that access to justice is being obstructed and people’s freedom of movement is being disturbed due to the ongoing marches.
Upon this, PTI's counsel Hamid Khan said that the party would never want to make any building dysfunctional - including the Supreme Court, Parliament House and other buildings on Constitutional Avenue.
“We are with the Constitution, and we oppose any unconstitutional move in the country,” he stated.
He added that the court’s notice was received late at night and requested the bench to grant them some time to go through the petition and file a reply.
Justice Jawwad S Khawaja said that there should be a clear procedure about holding protests in the country, while Justice Mian Saqib Nisar told PTI’s counsel that every political party should take responsibility for their actions in view of Article 17 of the Constitution.
The hearing of case was adjourned until August 22.

@Azmat: And if you want an argument you are most welcome because I have tons of points against Imran of which I'm pretty sure you won't have an answer to because generally none of the PTI followers do. As they consider Imran a saint, because yeah he won the world cup which he reminds all of us after every minute.
@Azmat: Do you have any proof of this because I can't blame any one like Imran Khan does without evidence. It's like me saying that the donations we all give to shaukat khanum goes into Imran Khan's pockets. But then again if I can't prove it then whats the point? And do you know how big of a feudal lord Shah Mehmood Qureshi is? Or did he get cleaned passing through Imran's cleaning machine?
"The Supreme Court (SC) has observed that Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) and Pakistan Awami Tehreek (PAT) leaders should use ‘appropriate language’ against their opponents during speeches." Wrong wording. The correct wording would have been: PTI and PAT leaders should not use inappropriate language against their opponents.
@pakistani:
Why cant you see the goons of NS (so-called and what kind of language they use. The other reason is that TUQ's workers were deliberately killed and not even FIR is registered for the two months, will you be happy?. You can only understand if your near and dear one's are killed like that suddenly.
I Wonder why court doesnt notice Maryam Nawaz Sharif for bullying all the time on social websites This is absolute civil dictatorship by the current Government!
I appeal to the Supreme court to stand by the ruling of the Lahore High Court about registering a FIR against the "pseudo PM" and 20 other members who have been nominated in the FIR against the murder of 17 people in Lahore on the 16th of June.
And before we step in to taking notice of the new petitions please solve the 400 petitions that have been filed against the rigging of the May 2013 elections in Pakistan.
If the parliamentarians can not respect the judgement by the Lahore High Court what gives them the right to appeal to the SC?
CJ sahib; I call on you to give justice to the people who were killed in Lahore. This is state sponsored terrorism. They have abused their power over the police against innocent bystanders.
If things get out of control and the SC does not hold these 'murderers' accountable. You will be responsible Honorable Mister Chief Justice.
@Imm the DIM: They may not live on Imran's money but they do live on yours and mine
I wonder if the formation of the present Supreme Court was legal when Iftikhar Choudhry sent over one thousand Judges home and replaced them with his favourites without following any proper procedures.
The Supreme Court (SC) has observed that Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) and Pakistan Awami Tehreek (PAT) leaders should use ‘appropriate language’ against their opponents during speeches. Is Kawaja Saad Rafiq and Abid Sher Ali free to use un-parliamentary language?.
@Tabish Ahmed: Firstly it was shabaz sharif who used that inappropriate language not Nawaz Sharif. Shahbaz Sharif was insulted for that on many occasions and even PMLn supporters themselves condemned this. Do Nawaz Sharif and Shabaz Sharif use it every day to address a person? Did they continuously attack on Zardari's son for being in politics? Did he ask for Zardari's resignation over the Memogate scandal or Karachi killings? No! because Nawaz Sharif does not like to indulge in personal politics. Even when Imran Khan insults his daughter many times he still does not retaliate in the same way. Imran Khan needs to learn some manners to address people, they don't live on Imran's money.
Where was the court when newspapers use abusive language towards Musharraf. Where was the court when Khwaja Asif and Saad Rafique used abusive language for the Army. Where is the Sou Motto on the Lahore killings and why is the FIR not being registered? The most bias court. The judges should be tried themselves for political judgements.
SC does not say a word on Model Town Massacre. Does not say a word on unlawful impounding of private container owners. Does not pass any order on allowing food and water and basic necessaties to the besieged people of Minhaj in Model Town. Did not wake up on the foul mouthed Shahbaz Sharif in his last term. Did not reject the unconstitutional restoration of its Chief Justice through Long March on the roads and on and on... there is a long list. Why all these "SC, media "gurus", "Lawyers" corrupt politicians and even the Zionist America has suddenly started to have severe acute tummy aches??? The ANSWER is that they are all reaping the benefits of a rotten, corrupt system of governance to their advantage. They don't want to loose their perks, authority and lavish lifestyles through enslavement of the Pakistani people. They feel threatened from honest and upright leadership in Pakistan!!! BUT now Pakistan would not be the same. It is bound to change, whatever they do. People have shown thatthey can stand up for their rights and I urge they must not give it up no matter what the odds!
It is every citizen's right to protest but no one has right to besiege a city. I wish SC has passed an order against any disruptive activities that bring a halt to any city.
Stopping mobile phone network coverage is the denial of a fundamental right of every Pakistani. But govt insists it does it in the cause of national interest.
I wonder, why PM doesn't resign for once in the cause of national Interest.
Is IK really an oxford graduate and TUQ really a religious scholar...................by their actions and language both belie their much aclaimed credentials.
Attorney General for Pakistan Salman Aslam Butt requested the court to pass a written order about the clearance of Constitutional Avenue, however, the chief justice said that they cannot pass such an order.
Dear Butts!!! why why why???
Here courts object on language and there no mover over massacre. Ina lilla hay wa in a illahe rajeoon.
Where were these courts when NS and his little brother used to used inappropriate language against a sitting president
