Going modern: ‘Govt promoting computerisation’

The move had helped the government in recovery of taxes, the minister told party workers.

LAHORE: Excise and Taxation Minister Mujtaba Shujaur Rehman said on Tuesday the government had promoted computerisation and e-technology in government departments. The move had helped the government in recovery of taxes, the minister told party workers. “Encouraging results are coming up with the computerisation of government departments,” he said. He said the government had reserved Rs2 billion in this year budget to achieve millennium development goals. He said the government had provided more funds for health and education sectors than ever. “The health budget has been increased by up to Rs121.80 billion. Modern health facilities and free medicines are being provided to the poor,” he said.
